Accessibility Statement

Florida Hearing Matters is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience — including patients with visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive disabilities.

Florida Hearing Matters welcomes all patients — including those with disabilities — and we believe our website should welcome them too. We work to make floridahearingmatters.com usable for people with visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive disabilities, and we treat accessibility as an ongoing commitment rather than a one-time project.

Our Standard

We aim to conform to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA — the standard recognized internationally and referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more usable for everyone.

What We’ve Implemented

Specific things we’ve built into the site:

  • Semantic HTML — pages use proper heading hierarchy, lists, and landmarks (header, nav, main, footer) so screen readers can navigate naturally
  • Alternative text on all meaningful images so visually impaired users get the same information
  • Keyboard navigation — every interactive element (links, buttons, dropdown menus) is operable using a keyboard alone, without a mouse
  • Color contrast meeting WCAG AA ratios for body text against background
  • Responsive design — the site adapts to small screens, zoom levels up to 200%, and a wide range of device sizes
  • Clear focus indicators showing where you are on the page when using keyboard navigation
  • Descriptive link text rather than generic “click here” so screen-reader users know where links go
  • Form labels properly associated with their inputs (intake form, contact, feedback)
  • Skip-to-content available via the breadcrumb landmark for users navigating with assistive technology

What We’re Still Working On

Accessibility is never “done.” Areas we’re actively improving:

  • Adding closed captions to video content (Lyric testimonials and educational videos)
  • Audio descriptions for video content where visual context matters
  • Testing with screen-reader users on key patient workflows (booking, intake, contact)
  • Periodic third-party accessibility audits

Patients with Hearing Loss

As an audiology practice, we serve patients with hearing loss every day. Specific to that audience:

  • You can reach us by phone at (954) 999-5495 or by email at info@floridahearingmatters.com — whichever works better for your hearing situation
  • Our online intake forms can be completed at your own pace before your visit
  • Our office is equipped with assistive listening technology and is fully wheelchair-accessible
  • Sign language interpretation can be arranged on request — please let us know at least 48 hours before your appointment

How to Report an Accessibility Issue

If you encounter a barrier on our website — something hard to read, hard to navigate, hard to operate — please tell us. We take these reports seriously and work to fix issues quickly.

Contact us about accessibility

Email: info@floridahearingmatters.com
Phone: (954) 999-5495
Subject line: Accessibility — [page name or URL]

Include: the page you were on, what device and browser you used, what you were trying to do, and what got in the way. We’ll respond within two business days.

Third-Party Content

Some parts of our site embed content from third parties — for example, the Google Reviews widget, our online scheduler (Blueprint OMS / MyHearingPortal), and embedded video players. We’ve chosen vendors that we believe make a good-faith accessibility effort, but we don’t control their interfaces directly. If you encounter an accessibility issue with a third-party widget on our site, please still let us know — we can help you complete the task another way (by phone or in person) and can escalate the issue with the vendor.

Formal Notice

Florida Hearing Matters is committed to ensuring that our digital experience meets the accessibility needs of our patients and the community we serve. If despite our efforts you cannot access information or services on this website because of a disability, we will provide that information through an alternative communication channel (phone, in-person visit, printed materials) at no additional cost.
