AARP Hearing Solutions

AARP® Hearing Solutions™

AARP members can use their hearing benefit at our Fort Lauderdale office. It is a discount program administered by UnitedHealthcare Hearing — not insurance — and it includes a no-cost hearing exam. Call (954) 999-5495.

AARP members are welcome here

AARP® Hearing Solutions™ is administered by UnitedHealthcare Hearing, and Florida Hearing Matters is a network provider — so you can use your AARP member benefit at our office. Call (954) 999-5495 and mention you are an AARP member.

A Discount Program, Not Insurance

This is the single most important thing to understand, and the program's own materials state it plainly: AARP Hearing Solutions is not insurance and not a managed care product. It does not pay a claim on your behalf.

What it does is give AARP members no-cost professional services and member pricing on hearing aids. That is genuinely valuable — but it is a different thing from coverage, and we would rather you understand that before your appointment than discover it at checkout.

If you also have insurance with a hearing benefit, that is a separate question, and the two do not necessarily stack. Call us and we will sort out which route leaves you better off.

What Members Receive

Under AARP Hearing Solutions, these professional services are included at no cost:

  • A professional hearing exam
  • A hearing aid consultation
  • Follow-up care

Members also receive discounted member pricing on prescription hearing aids purchased through the provider network. Pricing depends on the technology level and the model, which is a conversation worth having in person rather than from a price list.

You do not need UnitedHealthcare insurance

A common point of confusion: AARP Hearing Solutions is administered by UnitedHealthcare Hearing, but you do not need to be a UnitedHealthcare member to use it. What you need is an AARP membership. Whatever insurance you carry, or none at all, the member benefit is available to you.

Prescription Hearing Aids vs. Over-the-Counter

AARP Hearing Solutions offers two paths, and they are not equivalent.

Prescription hearing aids are fitted through the provider network — that is what happens at our office. You get a diagnostic evaluation, devices programmed to your specific hearing loss, Real-Ear Measurement to verify the fitting is actually delivering what was prescribed, and follow-up care as your needs change.

Over-the-counter devices are bought directly online without a provider. They cost less and they suit some people with mild to moderate hearing loss. They are not programmed to your audiogram, and no one verifies the result.

We are not going to tell you OTC is never the right answer — for some people it is, and we have written an honest guide to over-the-counter hearing aids that says so. But if your hearing loss is more than mild, or you have had trouble with hearing in background noise, a fitted prescription device is a materially different product.

What You Get at This Practice

  • A complete diagnostic evaluation in our sound-treated booth — not a quick screening. See what testing involves.
  • Real-Ear Measurement on every fitting, the verification step many offices skip. More on fitting.
  • Time with the audiologist. Dr. Valerie Rossetti has practiced audiology since 2005 and founded this practice in 2013.
  • Ongoing follow-up and programming as your hearing changes.

What Happens When You Call

Call (954) 999-5495 and tell us you are an AARP member. We will confirm how the member benefit applies, explain what is included and what is not, and book your appointment. If you also have insurance with a hearing benefit, bring that card too and we will check which route serves you better.
